All courses listed below are offered in a blended learning format through the American Heart Association (AHA), combining online pre-work with an in-person hands-on skills session.
Basic Life Support (BLS): Designed for healthcare providers such as nurses, EMTs, doctors, dentists, firefighters, nursing/medical students, etc.
Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED: This is an entry level type course for community members or ‘lay responders’ who will learn how to respond to every day emergencies.
Heartsaver First Aid ONLY: For individuals with little or no medical training who need to learn how to respond to common injuries and medical emergencies. Ideal for workplace safety, personal preparedness, or job requirements that do not include CPR.
Heartsaver Pediatric CPR, AED, & First Aid: Designed for childcare providers, teachers, coaches, and others who care for infants and children. Meets regulatory training requirements for childcare settings and covers child-focused emergencies including choking, CPR, and first aid.

All BLS and Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED classes are offered in a Blended Learning format. Shortly after registration, students will be sent a link to access their Heartcode BLS or Heartsaver course where you will complete guided coursework before the skills session. Bring the certificate (or screenshot/email) to the class. When you come to your class, we will review the material you completed online and then test your skills. The online coursework MUST be completed before class! If you don’t complete the coursework prior to the start of class - you can Reschedule for another time.

The following times are only estimated averages. Online learning time varies by student because you move at your own pace.
Basic Life Support (BLS):
1-3 hours online and about 1-2 hours in person
Heartsaver Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED/FA:
1-3 hours online and about 2 hours in person
Heartsaver First Aid:
1-3 hours online and about 1 hour in person.

We issue SAME DAY certification cards! All BLS and Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications are for 2 years. Course certifications are issued digitally. After the completion of your in-person course, the digital certification card will be emailed to the address you used to complete your registration online. You can print/download/share your certification as needed. A special QR code is attached to every certification card that will validate its authenticity! Once you purchase a class seat, Northwest Pulse CPR will send you an enrollment email with the course access link. You will have to create an account on the American Heart Association eLearning website, or login if you have previously taken a class. If you need assistance, you can call or email the American Heart Association Support Center at 888-242-8883 (8:00am-5:00pm M-F) or email eLearning.help@Heart.org.

If you take a Blended Learning class, be sure to screenshot or have handy the online course completion certificate.
Be sure to bring a pen/pencil and notebook if you like to take notes.
Handbooks are no longer necessary to take a class. You do not need to purchase any in order to take the course. Free digital handbooks are included in your online class.
Breathing barriers and other training supplies will be provided to all participants.

We understand that life happens. However, our classes typically fill to capacity meaning that you may have taken a seat from another student who needs certification. We would appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to miss a class or fail to complete the online work on time.

Yes, we do! We provide American Heart Association (AHA) certified group and workplace training. Whether you're looking to train a team of employees, a group of volunteers, or staff at your organization, we can bring the training directly to you. Group sessions are ideal for five or more participants and include discounted pricing.

Northwest Pulse CPR may cancel a class if there is low enrollment. If this happens, we’ll do our best to reschedule you into another available session. If you prefer not to reschedule, we’re happy to offer a full refund. Your time and flexibility are important to us, and we appreciate your understanding.
